Every time, including if you have had colour for twenty years. Sensitisation develops in people who never had a problem before, and the reaction can be serious enough to need a hospital.

Three things we hold to. A patch test is done at least 48 hours before any colour, bleach or tint — including for returning clients whose test has expired, because sensitisation can develop after years without trouble. Tools are sterilised between clients and single-use items are never reused. And treatments and products here are cosmetic: we make no claim to treat acne, rosacea, eczema or any scalp condition, and we will point you to a pharmacist or doctor instead.
Yes. Sensitisation can develop after years of uneventful use, which is exactly why the test is repeated. If your last test is out of date we will decline the colour, and we will not be talked out of it.
Only if you already have a valid patch test. If not, come in for the test today and we will book the colour for 48 hours later — that gap is the entire point of it.
Honestly, usually not. On previously dyed hair that is a process over several sittings, and a salon promising it in one appointment is risking your hair. We will tell you what is realistic.
Tell us first. Retinoids and acids make skin lift during waxing and change how a facial should be done, so we may wait or adjust the treatment rather than risk removing skin.
No. Facials are cosmetic and cannot treat acne, rosacea or eczema. We will say so rather than selling you a course, and point you to a pharmacist or doctor who can help.
Yes, between every client, and single-use items are disposed of after one use. It is worth asking this anywhere you go.
